When it comes to getting around, South Dublin has plenty options for you, whether you prefer to walk, cycle, use public transport or drive.

South Dublin has excellent public transport infrastructure, which people can use to get to their desired destinations. The area is home to an excellent bus service, with all of South Dublin’s neighbourhoods benefiting from an extensive bus network and quality bus corridors, making the use of public transport a convenient means of getting around.

Cycling is increasingly becoming a popular way of getting around South Dublin. The 8.5km Grand Canal cycle route takes you from Lucan and Clondalkin all the way into the city, while design work on the Dodder Greenway is advancing, which will link Tallaght, Templeogue and Rathfarnham with the city centre.

Investment in the public realm in South Dublin’s neighbourhoods has also served to incentivise more people to walk, with notable improvements in connections and walking routes.

For those wishing to drive, South Dublin benefits from having an excellent road network, with the M50, N4 and N7 readily accessible.
